Part 1     By Ps. Henry Pillai

In this year of the Beginning of New Beginnings, may we seek to read, memorize, recite, sing and speak God’s word.  The Bible is God’s written word. Jesus is God’s word that became flesh.  God’s word can become flesh. God’s word can walk and talk because it is the spoken word. God speaks things into being. We can frame and reframe our world by our response to the spoken word of God through faith. Now faith is beyond our five senses. God lives in the realm of faith. Faith is the substance in the hand of God for Him to do something.

God does not live in time. He has neither beginning nor end, whereas time has a beginning and it has an end. Therefore, God is not confined to time.  Time lives in God. Because He is God, He has no beginning. He always is. Ungodly scientists say that in the beginning there was nothing. As far as God is concerned in the beginning there is always One.  Everything begins with one. And who is that one? God. Everything in life begins with God. He is the beginning God.

Genesis 1:1 – 3 says, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

Now this account of the creation in Genesis has posed problems for people trying to reconcile it with what has been found by the archaeologists regarding the age of our earth, based on the fossils found. Verse 1 says that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  Then verse 2 says that the earth was without form, empty, and darkness was everywhere. Therefore, between verse 1 and verse 2 something else happened. That was when God’s judgement fell upon Satan and one-third of the angels who followed him. They were cast down from heaven to planet earth.  The rebellion which started in heaven continued on earth. It was in that judgement that everything became chaotic. The earth was without form and waters covered the whole earth. Land could not be seen. The mountains could not be seen. There was complete darkness. There was no life. Everything had been destroyed because of rebellion.

Some of us today can look into our lives and we see certain areas without any form. They seem empty and full of confusion.  It is not like what it was before. It is as though you are living in a mist and everything you see seem unclear, distorted and confusing. Nothing seems to be in order.  We need to reframe it with the power of God’s word.  God is going to do something. What does He do?  From the passage above, He did not look at darkness and said, “O, it is dark.”  He did not look at the confusion and did nothing. Genesis 1:3 tells us that God looked at the darkness, the emptiness, the chaos and He proclaimed, “Let there be light” and there was light. So, I want you to be able to look at the areas of darkness and emptiness in your life and proclaim the word of God, “Let there be light.” In like manner whatever represents shapelessness, emptiness, ignorance in the life of an individual, institution, or nation can be reframed and reshaped by the word of God. All can be reshaped by God’s word.

In this 19th season of faith, we want to walk in dominion and not in defeat.  Hebrews 11:3 declares that, By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.  God spoke the world and everything else into being.  Faith is encoded in the word of God. It comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

Beloved, you and I need to speak God’s word.  We need to hear God’s word. We need to proclaim God’s word.  You will find that there is creative power in His word. The more of the word of God you have, the more revelation faith will be made available to you.  Only by boldly proclaiming God’s word or by proclaiming the word He reveals to you, can you frame and reframe your world. The invisible concepts and ideas in your mind can become visible realities by the proclamation of God’s word as you respond to it in faith. The Bible reminds us that things which are seen are not made by things which are visible.  It is by the living and powerful force of God’s word that the invisible becomes visible. Therefore, Hebrews 12:12-13 tells us, Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed. Hallelujah!

We read in the Bible about the first miracle Jesus performed in Cana where there was a wedding feast. Midway through the celebrations, the wine ran out. Mary went to Jesus for help after which she told the servants to do whatever Jesus said to do.  Jesus then instructed the servants to fill the water jars which were there for people to wash their hands and feet. The water in the jars was miraculously changed to become the best wine the people had ever tasted thus far. So often God’s instructions to us appear to contradict our human rationale. It was very simple what Mary told the servants to do, “Do whatever Jesus tells you”.

Beloved, at the beginning of this year, if you will come to Jesus and do just what He tells you to do, your waters will turn to wine!  One jar would not be enough to contain it, you will need many jars. Yes, let the miracle begin! Whatever your problem is, bring it to Jesus.  Hear what He says. You have to bring Him the water if you want Him to turn it into wine. Whenever God wants to do something for you He always says to you, “Give me what you have in your hands.”  Jesus turned not just one jar of water into the wine, but six. The wine never ran out and the servants could not empty the jars fast enough. The miracle lives on. The wine keeps coming in. Do you need a miracle in your life?  Yes, bring what you have. What you want to change, say to the Lord, “I give it to you.” What do you have? Jesus is not asking for what you do not have. What you have, He says, “Give it to me. Dedicate it to me and see what I will do!”
