SPIRITUAL AWAKENING BRINGS NEW LIFE
SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17
The Bible says, ‘Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Saviour], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].’
Do you ever wish you had a new beginning? Do you ever wish you could throw away the old life and start something afresh? Yes! God gives you this opportunity. If this is your desire, your prayer; then you can have it. But it comes in the name of Jesus only! Jesus said, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” Outside of Jesus, there is no life!
God desires to live with you but He comes only by invitation. He does not force, He’s really gentle. Revelations 3:20 says Jesus knocks at the door of our heart. He woos you to love Him. He waits for your invitation. Beloved, wherever you are, Jesus is waiting for your invitation.
Genesis 28:16-19 says Jacob was running for his life. He was sleeping in the desert. That night he had a dream and he saw angels ascending and descending. When he awoke in the morning he realized where he slept was a very special place. He realized that God was there! So he took the stone he slept on, anointed it with oil and called the place Beth-El (house of God). What does this signify? The place where you sleep is where God wants to meet with you! God wants you to realize the place you stay can also become the house of God! He wants to use your home as a place where angels ascend and descend!
We see in Scripture when Jesus walked the Earth, He was waiting for people to invite Him to their homes. Luke 10:38-39, ‘Now while they were on their way, Jesus entered a village [called Bethany], and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who seated herself at the Lord’s feet and was continually listening to His teaching.’
Beloved, I am challenging you to open your homes, open the place you work, open any place that is available to you, where you can sit in two or three, in Jesus’ Name, and allow Jesus to come in. For He said, “where two or three are gathered in My name [meeting together as My followers], I am there among them.” (Matthew 18:20) This means, any two of you can begin and He’ll be there! Jesus wants to come into your home because He wants to teach you how to become like Him!
Jesus went to Zacchaeus’ house to bring salvation. Beloved, Jesus Christ, whose name is also Salvation, wants to come to your house today! Zacchaeus welcomed Him! If you have not started using your house as a place of prayer, start doing it today!
