Crisis and Community Counselling

This course is designed to provide students with the foundation, crisis contextual dimensions, basic knowledge, and skills for functioning as competent lay counsellors within their communities. Emphasis will be on the helping process in a variety of community settings, various stages of needs, treatment planning, referral, support advocacy, and personal stress care. Basic theoretical, scriptural and practice issues will be considered, including the importance of multicultural awareness and the need for a balanced approach to counsellor self-care.
