SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: ISAIAH 43:18-19
There is a time to remember and retell but there is also a time to Let Go! God spoke that to Joshua deliberately in order to challenge him to Let Go! What are other areas that we need to Let Go to be able to have a year of no limitations?
The Bible tells us that Samuel was ‘the’ Prophet. He was so accurate; he was so intimate with God that not one word from Samuel fell to the ground (1 Samuel 3:19). Everything that Samuel foretold and prophesied came to pass. All of Israel honoured Samuel as the Prophet of God.
Then God told Samuel to elect and appoint Saul as the King. For a while everything was going well with Saul. Then King Saul sinned against God and everything started to fall apart. All of Israel looked at Samuel in doubt and Samuel was totally shattered. He was disappointed and felt God had let him down. Then the Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you grieve over Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel?” (1 Samuel 16:1) Basically the Lord was telling Samuel to ‘Snap out of it! How long are you going to sit there and nurse your wound?’
Church, you will get hurt in life. Your boss, your neighbour, your parents, your children and sadly sometimes even Church leaders will hurt you. Getting hurt is part of life. There is no escaping that. Why? Because you are human and not a machine. The only way to protect and preserve yourself from getting hurt is if we lock you away in a little room and gave you 3 meals a day. That way you won’t see anyone or have any exchanges with anyone. Just live alone for yourself in a little corner. What a miserable life that would be! So don’t let hurts hinder you, Let It Go because God has something much better for you. You will never come into the ‘no limitations’ life if you hang on to your past hurts. Don’t build a wall around your heart!
Some of you may have made some inner vows, ‘I will never trust again!’, ‘I will never love again!’ And this is the very common one, ‘I will never serve again!’ Let it go, Church! Present it to God and ask the Lord to heal you. Don’t build a wall around your heart. When you block people out, you Lock Yourself in!
Jesus came to the Pharisees and Sadducees and said “Why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?” (Matthew 15:3)
Do you know how you identify the problem of tradition?
When someone comes with a revelation or idea, one of the things you would say is, ‘Oh, I don’t like it, we’ve never done this before’ or ‘We’ve always done it this way’.
In your business, family situation, ministry etc; you may have been doing things in a certain way for years. Is it producing the results you’d like? If it isn’t maybe it’s time to seek God and ask, is there a tradition you need to break.
God has amazing things for every one of you in 2018. This is the year of No Limitations! In order to grab hold of what God has for you, you have to Let Go Of The Old!
