TRIUMPH & REIGN! – MORE THAN CONQUERORS
BY PS. HENRY PILLAI
SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: ROMANS 8:35-39
The 17th time Abraham’s name is mentioned in the Bible is in Genesis 18:17-19, ‘And the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.”’
The greatest blessing Abraham could have, is to be a friend of God and to become the Father of many nations. God chose Abraham because He could trust Abraham to command his children and his household after him, to keep the way of the Lord. Even in the midst of barrenness, in that moment of desperation and frustration, God invaded and gave him a new hope. Beloved, this season may be like that but we need to know that God will not hide from us what He is doing. Will you trust & obey God? Will you command your family to also follow God in all your ways?
The 17th time Isaac’s name is mentioned in connection with victory is over singlehood. ‘And Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening; and he lifted his eyes and looked, and there, the camels were coming’ (Genesis 24:63). So, in this season, I’m speaking to all those who are single. This is the time you have to rise up and fight! Go out working for the Lord and there your prayer will be answered.
The 17th time the name of Jesus is mentioned in the book of Mark speaks about victory over unclean spirits. ‘And suddenly they cried out, saying, “What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”’ (Matthew 8:29)
Many of us are being tormented by the foul spirits. Beloved, if you are a child of God, and you are the light, no amount of darkness can overcome you. Because darkness can never overcome light! Light always overcomes darkness! That’s why we are called to invade! It’s about time that we stop being tormented by the foul spirits and its time you and I tormented the devil! Jesus said unless you bind the strongman and cast him out, you cannot take the goods! Let’s begin to speak with authority over opposing powers of darkness, over the prayerlessness in our life, the worthlessness in our life, the unfaithfulness in our life, the disobedience and selfishness in our life. We should all reject these because they are unclean, demonic, defying spirits!
The 17th time the name of Jesus is mentioned in Luke is victory over leprosy. Leprosy is a sign of sin. ‘And it happened when He was in a certain city, that behold, a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”’ (Luke 5:12)
If there is sin in our life that has so defiled us, separated us from others, that makes us a prisoner, that everybody shuns us because we are so full of leprosy, well, Jesus comes today and He is able to touch us and clean us of all the power of sin over our life. So the 17th season will be a time where we will push back the powers of darkness and we will push back the claim sin has made over our life. It will be a time of Restoration! It will be time of Turning-around! It will be a time of hope again, new beginnings!
The 17th day came and the grave could not hold Him. Death could not hold Him! He arose, triumphantly! overcoming all opposing powers. He put to shame the works of wickedness. Beloved, if you will go through all that the Lord is taking you through; denial of self, dying to yourself, dying to the debate, dying to that argument, dying to be heard; the way to the cross, for without a cross you cannot experience Resurrection. And then you will experience resurrection and never die again.
Psalm 23:1-6 reveals 17 triumphant lifestyles: –
Triumphant in righteous relationship – the Lord is my Shepherd. Triumphant in supernatural supply – I shall not want. Triumphant in real rest – He makes me lie down in green pastures. Triumphant in right refreshment – He leadeth me beside still waters. Triumphant in heavenly healing – He restoreth my soul. Triumphant in godly guidance – He leadeth me in paths of righteousness. Triumphant in prevailing purpose – for His Name’s sake. Triumphant in trials, – yea, though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death. (You will walk through the valley of the shadow of death but it’s only a shadow!) Triumphant in powerful protection – I will fear no evil. Triumphant in persistent presence – Thou art with me. Triumphant in divine discipline – Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Triumphant in high hope – Thou preparest a table in the presence of my enemies. Triumphant in covenant consecration – Thou anointest my head with oil. Triumphant in amazing abundance – my cup runneth over. Triumphant in believer’s blessing – surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. Triumphant in sure security – and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Triumphant in emancipating eternity – it is forever!
- In Romans 8:35-39, there are 17 things that will come against you to try to separate you from the love of God. What are they? Are you encouraged?
- What are the characteristics of Abraham & Isaac that enabled them to see victory in their circumstances? When we are faced with challenges, can we do the same?
17 is a time of Resurrection! We will triumph and reign over trials and testing. We will triumph and reign over terror and treachery. We will triumph and reign over temptations. We will triumph and reign over all the traitors in our life. HalleluYah!!!
